Monday, June 23, 2014: Lots of Pictures

My companion, Sister Cook
My other companion, Sister Hansen
Yes, that's our car. One day, I opened my door and all of a sudden this dog jumps into our car. I wish I could say that's the first time that's happened on my mission.

Nasty little discovery

And some nature pictures:

Monday, June 9, 2014: First Week in Clinton

So, I don't have pictures once again today. Sorry about that! I really need to get better about taking pictures throughout the day. I'll have some next week, promise!
I have successfully completed my first week in my third area. Woot! I'm actually really loving this place. Adjusting from Red Star missionary work to regular missionary work was kind of difficult and I miss the members in Red Star like crazy but Clinton is amazing too! The ward is awesome. They're very missionary minded. And when the members are missionary minded you feel like you've got a support team!

My companions are both really good missionaries. Sister Cook is from southern Utah and has been out about 13 months. She's very focused on the work which is awesome. Sister Hansen is originally from Ghana but she was adopted a few years ago by a family in Utah. Pretty cool! She's so sweet. And I could listen to her accent all day! :P

We worked really hard this week. We got to meet a ton of people! Here are a few of my favorites: First, Danielle. She's a nurse for the sister of a less active member in the ward and has been taught by the missionaries for a long while. She wants to be baptized but she doesn't know when. I think she's just nervous about it. But she'll get there! She came to church on Sunday, and brought all four of her kids! Apparently that's the first time she brought her family, so that's a good sign!

We also visited a girl named Spandy (Her full name is Spandana but that's what she goes by). She is absolutely adorable! She's from India originally, but moved here a few years back. Since then she's pretty much taken care of herself! She's gone to school, gotten a job, an apartment, everything. She's very peppy and just excited about everything and to me, she's very brave for coming out to a different country all by herself. She also says she's going to make me a real Indian dinner. My companions are nervous about it because it was VERY spicy last time. But I'm excited. :) Even if I do burn my whole tongue off, it'll be worth the experience!

Finally, Wednesday is my nine month mark! How crazy is that? I really don't feel like I've been out that long at all! I'm so old!!! :P If time keeps going this fast I'll be seeing you all soon!

Tuesday, June 3, 2014: Goodbyes are the Worst

So, the time has finally arrived. Sister Dailey and I are leaving Red Star! It was a very bittersweet feeling. Mostly bitter. I've grown to love everyone in Red Star so much and saying goodbye was really hard. And saying goodbye to Sister Dailey is going to be even harder! Lucky for us, we're going to be in the same district! She's going to Florence, and I'm going to Clinton! I'll be sure to get my new address out soon but for now just keep using the mission address if you want to send me anything.

Clinton's only about an hour or so away from Red Star, but it's going to be very different anyway! It's going to be weird to go back to doing "regular missionary work" after all this time--and to have so many people around! Where are all the cows? Why are there so many cars on the road? Oh, well. I'll gradually get used to living in civilization again, I suppose! :P

Anyway, we spent most of last week preparing to leave. The Deans came on Thursday to help us move out of our apartment, so on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we got to live with my very favorite people, Amanda and Andrew Bodin! I love those guys so much. We had a blast staying with them. We helped Amanda a little bit with getting ready for girls' camp and as payment we got to eat their food and sleep in their beds! I think it's safe to say we got the better end of the deal. AND they left treats for us on our pillows! Like sparklers and shirts and stuff. Yep. We definitely got the better end of the deal!

Then on Sunday and Monday we stayed with the Falveys. I'm glad we had awesome members to take care of us so we didn't have to be homeless all week! We spent most of Monday packing and cleaning the rest of the apartment. It was awful. Sister Dailey and I kept having mini breakdowns where we realized we were really leaving. Nobody ever told me how hard transfers are! You come to love so many people and your area becomes your home, and then you have to leave. And then your new area becomes your home, and you have to leave that too. Not fun at all. But I'm excited to experience Clinton! It's going to be a bit of an adjustment but it'll be alright.

Well, I think that's just about everything! Can't wait to tell you guys about how my first week goes!
